Indications
Spersallerg Eye Drops is used for:
Conjunctivitis, Keratitis, Inflammatory eye conditions, Hay-fever
Adult Dose
Adult: Ophth: Apply 1-2 drops 2-3 times/day for up to 14 days.
Ophth Conjunctival decongestant Instill 1-2 drops up to 4 times/day for 3-4 days unless directed.
Child Dose
Children (Older than 2 years of age):
No specific studies are available in this patient group. For possible systemic effects, the dosage should exceed to 1 to 2 drops per day.
Children (Below 2 years of age):
Not to be used in children below 2 years of age.
The eye drop should not be used for longer periods than 14 days as this may cause rebound hyperemia and toxic follicular conjunctivitis.

Hypersensitivity.
Precautions
Do not use on infants, young child. Prolonged use can cause rebound congestion. Discontinue if ocular pain or visual changes occur. Pregnancy, lactation.
Pregnancy-Lactation
Pregnancy
No clinical data on exposed pregnancies are available. The eye drops should only be used if the potential benefits outweigh the risks to the fetus or infant.
Lactation
It is not known whether either of the active substances of the eye drop passes into breast milk. Caution should be exercised when using the product during breast-feeding.
Interactions
Sympathomimetic agents may cause a hypertensive crisis if used during treatment with MAOIs. Concomitant use with MAOIs is therefore contraindicated. Sedating anti-histamines can enhance the sedating effects of CNS depressants including alcohol, hypnotics, opioid analgesics, anxiolytic sedatives and anti-psychotics. They also have an additive anti-muscarinic action with other anti-muscarinic drugs, such as atropine and antidepressant
Adverse Effects
Side effects of Antazoline 0.05% + Tetryzoline 0.04% eye prep :
Hypersensitivity reactions. Skin sensitization. Headache, hypertension, tremors, weakness, sweating, rebound congestion with prolonged use. Nasal: transient burning, stinging, sneezing, dryness of mucosa. Eye: blurred vision, irritation, mydriasis.
Mechanism of Action
Antazoline is an ethylenediamine-derivative antihistamine.
Tetryzoline is a sympathomimetic with alpha-adrenergic activity with little or no effect on beta-adrenergic receptors.
