Indications

Truxil Tablet is used for: Cerebrovascular insufficiency, Functional rehabilitation after cerebrovascular accidents, auditory, vestibular and visual disorders of ischaemic etiology, Stroke

Adult Dose

Adult: PO Auditory, vestibular and visual disorders of ischaemic aetiology; Cerebrovascular insufficiency; Functional rehabilitation after cerebrovascular accidents Per tab contains almitrine 30 mg and raubasine 10 mg: 1 tab twice daily.

Concurrent usage with MAOIs.

Precautions

Due to the presence of lactose, this drug should not be used in the case of galactosemia, of glucose and galactose malabsorption syndrome or of lactose deficiency (rare metabolic diseases). Do not exceed the recommended dose. Pregnancy. Long-term treatment may result in numbness, prickling or formication effects in the lower limbs which may, in rare cases, lead to treatment withdrawal.

Pregnancy-Lactation

It is not recommended in pregnancy. It should be used with caution only when the expected benefit to the mother is greater than the possible risk to the fetas.

Interactions

Not to be used concurrently with other almitrine-containing preparations. Potentially Fatal: MAOIs.

Adverse Effects

Side effects of Almitrine Bismesylate + Raubasine : Mild GI disorders, sleep disturbances, palpitations, anxiety, dizziness. Rarely, wt loss, peripheral neuropathy with abnormal sensations in the lower limbs.

Mechanism of Action

Almitrine and raubasine work together to increase the amount of oxygen brought to the brain and neurosensory tissue, by increasing the oxygen content of arterial blood.
