Indications

Monocal Gold Tablet is used for: Calcium supplements, Osteoporosis, Osteoarthritis, Calcium deficiency during Pregnancy and Lactation, Postpartum care, Fracture, Post-Menopausal women, Low back pain, Spondylitis, Hip joint surgery

Adult Dose

As an addition to the daily diet, 2-3 tablets are usually recommended with meals. 400 mg Tablet: 2-3 Tablets daily 740 mg Tablet: 1-2 Tablets daily

It should be taken with food.

Contra Indications

Its contraindicated in conditions like kidney stone, kidney disease, increased activity of the parathyroid gland, high amount of calcium in urine, high amount of calcium in the blood, extreme loss of body water.

Precautions

Precaution is needed if the patient is allergic to calcium rotate. Before using this product in kidney disease, kidney stones, little or no stomach acid (achlorhydria), disease of the pancreas, a certain lung disease (sarcoidosis), or difficulty absorbing nutrition from food (malabsorption syndrome) precaution is needed.

Pregnancy-Lactation

During pregnancy and lactation treatment with Calbostar should always be under the direction of a physician. Women who are pregnant and breastfeeding need more Calcium. Pregnancy-related high blood pressure is a common and serious risk for women and their babies and taking supplements of Calcium Orotate can help to reduce this risk.

Interactions

Calcium can decrease absorption of the following drugs when taken together with bisphosphonates, quinolone antibiotics, tetracycline antibiotics, levothyroxine, phenytoin and tiludronate disodium. Thiazide-type diuretics can interact with Calcium supplements, increasing the risks of hypercalcemia and hypercalciuria.

Adverse Effects

Side effects of Calcium Orotate : Bloating and swelling in the abdomen are common side effects of Calcium Orotate. Constipation, nausea, vomiting, headache, and increased thirst/urination, may occur infrequently.

Mechanism of Action

Calcium salt can be used in the prevention and treatment of calcium deficiency states or negative calcium balance. It is also used as an adjunct in the prevention and treatment of osteoporosis.
