Indications

Camlor Tablet is used for: Pain management in, Osteoarthrtitis, Rhenmatoid arthritis, Spondilytis, Muscloskeletal pain, Mild to moderate pain in Surgery, Sciatica and other Inflammations.

Adult Dose

Oral Pain management of Osteoarthritis, Rheumatoid arthritis Adult: 12 mg daily in 2-3 divided doses, up to 16 mg daily if needed. Other Pain Relief Adult: 8-16 mg daily in 2-3 divided doses. Max: 16 mg daily. Parenteral (Intravenous or Intramuscular injection) Pain relief Adult: 8 mg once or twice daily by IM/IV inj. Max: 24 mg daily.

Child Dose

Lomoxicam is not recommended for use in children and adolescents below age 18 due to lack of data on safety and efficacy.

Renal Dose

Renal impairment: Maximum 12 mg daily in 2-3 divided doses.

Administration

It should be taken 1 hour before a meal or 2 hours after a meal to minimize gastrointestinal irritation.

Contra Indications

Hypersensitivity to Lornoxicam or to any of the excipients present in the formulation and to other NSAIDs, including acetylsalicylic acid, Thrombocytopenia, Severe heart failure, Gastro-intestinal bleeding, cerebrovascular bleeding or other bleeding disorders, Active or history of recurrent peptic ulcer/hemorrhage, Severe hepatic impairment and renal impairment (Serum creatinine > 700 μmol/l).

Precautions

It is not recommended to administer Lornoxicam to patients with history of peptic ulcer, hypersensitivity, impaired kidney or liver function, high blood pressure, heart failure, ulcerative colitis or Crohn's disease, asthma and lupus erythematosus, diabetes or blood coagulation disorder.

Pregnancy-Lactation

Lornoxicam is not recommended during pregnancy and breastfeeding and is contraindicated during the last third of pregnancy.

Interactions

Increased lornoxicam blood conc when given concomitantly with cimetidine. Enhanced effects of anticoagulants, sulfonylureas, methotrexate, ciclosporin, digoxin. Decreased effects of diuretics, ACE inhibitors & ARB's. Potentially Fatal: Increased risk of lithium toxicity.

Adverse Effects

Side effects of Lornoxicam : Abdominal pain, diarrhoea, dizziness, dyspepsia, nausea, vomiting; headache; haematologic disorders; CNS effects; visual disturbance; tinnitus; nephrotoxicity; fluid retention; photosensitivity; alveolitis; pancreatitis; Stevens-Johnson Syndrome; toxic epidermal necrolysis; colitis induction/exacerbation; stomatitis; hypertension, palpitation; insomnia, somnolence.

Mechanism of Action

Lornoxicam is an NSAID that is used in musculoskeletal, joint disorders and other painful conditions including postoperative pain. Lornoxicam is a potent inhibitor of both COX-1 and COX-2 enzymes.
